From 'Ironman Dad' to three-time Ironman 140.6 finisher, twelve Ironman 70.3, many Olympic distance triathlons, and numerous endurance running (26.2, 13.1, 10K) races across North America. As a USA Triathlon Level I Certified Coach, a bike mechanic, and a certified bike fitter, Sarge is now focusing on coaching and building environments for athletes to reach their endurance sports goals.
In addition, Sarge's experience in the Marines gives him a different perspective on physical and mental training that translates to a considerable benefit to the athlete. Something he had to overcome himself when first getting into the sport.
Starting his journey to Ironman several years (decades) after leaving the military presented a struggle, physically and mentally. Not being a confident swimmer, Sarge knew that having a goal needed to be tangible, so he signed up for his first triathlon 70.3 in 2011. By mid-2012, the opportunity to obtain an early registration for Ironman 140.6 Lake Placid came, and now he was signed up for a full before even competing in the half Ironman. All went well, and both "A" races added to his experience and confidence, lighting his fire to continue and complete many more races.
Providing the Victory Multisport coaching staff another dimension as a bike mechanic and bike fitter benefits the team athletes with local services, remote consultations, and on-site coaching for selected races. Additionally, his experience in roadside contingencies and emergency repairs helps every teammate get back on the road and finish the race.
