Jeremy Potts

Name: Jeremy Potts

Bio: Dad. Christian. Army Veteran. Texas Boy. I’m just a dude that likes to hang out with family and friends. Born and raised in North-East Texas, Graduated from Stephen F. Austin in 2012, and spent 9 years as an officer in the US Army. Blessed to recently moved back to Lone Star Country after taking some “L’s” from life. I’ve had to go back to the drawing board in order to fix what needed to be fixed, and now I’m poised for the comeback tour. I have a beautiful 10 year old daughter who makes me so freaking proud every single day.

Why: Why did I join Team Victory? Because in August of 2020 I was driving to Salt Lake City to see my daughter, and to kill time on the 20 hour drive I turned on the HWMF Podcast, episode 28, Kenny Lehman: The Ironman Dad. On the way back from that same trip, I bought and listened to David Goggins audiobook, “Can’t Hurt Me”.

Kenny’s message of wanting his daughter to be proud of him and his never-ceasing positivity, coupled with Goggins’ mantra of callousing your mind and pushing beyond your self-imposed limitations woke something inside me. Because training for a Marathon/Ultra/Ironman/whatever your flavor is, takes mental fortitude and dedication, resiliency and strength. Honing these skills doesn’t make just make me a better runner or athlete, it makes me a better man, a better dad, and a better partner.

When I heard Kenny’s bit about crossing the finish line and hearing Mike Reilly say, “Kenny Lehman, YOU are an Ironman”, I got pretty emotional. Three months later, watching Bobby cross the finish line, I cried. I want that. That’s why I’m on Team Victory, and that’s why I’ll be an Ironman. Not just for me, but for my daughter, my wonderful girlfriend Shay, and everyone else in my life who is coming on this journey with me.

Team Victory vs The World. Burn the friggin boats, because we ain’t goin back!
